Andrea O. Luján

October 12, 1930 — March 6, 2025

Andrea O. Lujan, affectionately known as Honey to her nieces and nephews, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents José León Luján and Isadora “Lola” Luján; brothers: Alfonso Luján, León Luján; sisters: Lucille Baca, Carmen Luján, Berlinda Luján and Christina Luján-Bonds.

Andrea is survived by her brother Raymond D. Luján and his wife Flora; nieces and nephews: Martín Baca and his wife Valery, Angela Sievel and her husband Gene, Berlinda Eras and her husband Ken, Mark Luján, Michael Luján and his wife Eloisa, Karol Salazar and her husband Tim, Daniel Luján, and Charles Bonds.

Born on October 12, 1930, in the humble town of Torreon, New Mexico, Andrea was a beacon of love and faithfulness throughout her ninety-four years.

Andrea leaves behind a legacy rich with the aroma of her heavenly cooking and the warmth of her unwavering love. Honey was a woman whose very essence was intertwined with the act of nourishment; she fed the bodies and souls of all who crossed her threshold with dishes crafted from the bounty of the earth and seasoned with an abundance of love.

As we reflect upon Andrea's journey, we recall how the good Lord tested her strength early when her beloved mother was called to glory during her high school years. It was then that young Andrea, with the grace of the Almighty, stepped up as the matriarch of her family for her seven siblings. She embraced her siblings with the tender care of a shepherd guarding their flock, a testament to her loving, faith-filled, and generous spirit.

Honey's life was a living sermon, preaching the gospel of acceptance and compassion through her actions. Her home was an open table where the aroma of fresh coffee and the sound of laughter and faith were as constant as the northern star. Her kitchen was her church, and from it, she ministered to the hungry, the weary, and the lost.

A devout Catholic, Andrea was an active and cherished member of her parish, Our Lady of Fatima. Her faith was as steadfast as the mountains surrounding her New Mexican home. She walked in the light of God, and that light shone brightly through her every deed and word. Her prayers were as fervent as her stove was hot, and her devotion to the Lord was as deep as the roots of the ancient mesquite.

In her lifetime, Andrea gathered a congregation not of saints and angels, but of friends and family, all drawn to the sanctuary of her presence. She was the heart of every gathering, the joy in every celebration, and the comfort in every sorrow. Her legacy is a tapestry woven with threads of kindness and selflessness, a pattern for all to follow.

As we bid farewell to Andrea O. Lujan, let us not mourn as those without hope, for we know that she rests in the loving arms of our Savior. Let us instead give thanks for the time we were blessed to share with her, for the lessons she taught us, and for the unconditional love she gave so freely.

And now, as Andrea takes her place at the Lord's table, we imagine her cooking up a feast for the heavenly host, her laughter mingling with the choir of angels. We take solace in knowing that she has been welcomed into the eternal kingdom, where she will continue to watch over us until we meet again.

May her soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
