Antonia Rae Nevarez passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her father Charlie, both sets of grandparents, and other extended family members.
Antonia is remembered as being generous of spirit, fiercely loyal and loving to her mother Gloria, sister Perla, brother Carlos and his fiancé Barbara Lynn who survive her, along with her many, many godchildren, aunts, uncles, and cousins, all who will miss her dearly. Also known as Toni, she treated her friends with the same loyalty, considering those closest an extension of her family.
Antonia Rae Nevarez entered this world on October 23, 1967, the second child of Charlie and Gloria Nevarez.
A native of Albuquerque, and raised in the south valley, Antonia attended West Mesa High School, and was part of the graduating class of 1985.
We fondly recall Toni, always a perfectionist. Toni was rarely seen without her lipliner applied at the start of her day with unmatched precision. She took the same precise approach in other tasks, even simple tasks, such as washing the dishes. We admired her for it, as everything had to be exactly right. Not always evident, but when it was, her dry sense of humor kept everyone on their toes and put a smile on our faces.
Toni will also be remembered for her dedication, having recently completed 25 years of service as a Program Manager, with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, where she put forth the same generosity and perfection in her job as she did in the other facets of her life.
Without her physical presence, we are left to carry Antonia in our hearts. As we mourn her passing, we rest knowing she is in a place where all her wounds have been erased, and all the old will be made new. We take solace knowing her beloved father, and her heavenly Father were both there to welcome her home with open arms.
Antonia's Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:00 am at Redemption Hill Church located at 9674 Eagle Ranch Road NW, 87114.
