Aurelia “Augie” Terry, a vibrant soul known for her sharp wit and adventurous palate, passed away on July 6, 2022, at the age of 78.
She was preceded in death by her mother Emelia Robinson, father Dexter Robinson, and brother Dexter Robinson, Jr.
Aurelia is survived by two nieces: Amanda Robinson and husband Gordon Barnard, Alyssa Robinson, also extended family members from the Gutierrez, Robinson, and McGinnis families.
Born on April 5, 1944, in Los Angeles, California, Augie's unique perspective on life and warm company touched everyone she met. Her infectious laughter and intelligent conversations were moments of joy for friends and family alike.
Augie had a lifelong love affair with the culinary arts, never shying away from the opportunity to try a new dish or restaurant. Her mornings were sacred, reserved for savoring her beloved coffee, while her sweet tooth found delight in an array of desserts that she enjoyed with unapologetic pleasure. Her passion for taste was matched only by her dedication to her career. Augie carved out a successful path as an electronic technician, a field where she not only excelled but also paved the way for others as a pioneering woman in technology.
Her younger days were filled with the rhythms of dance floors, where she swayed and twirled with grace. The local dance halls delighted her in offering a place to socialize with friends and family along with the opportunity to display her individual style. In addition to dancing, she also recounted fond memories of playing with loved ones in the north valley along the natural environments of the acequias and Rio Grande. When speaking of times in the valley, there was always a smile on her face. Although she had a soft spot for nature, she too had a curios mathematical mind. Augie had a knack for numbers, a skill that served her well in both her professional and leisure pursuits. She was always ahead of her time, combining her open spirit with a headstrong determination that ensured she lived life on her own terms.
Augie's companions were not only the people who adored her but also her cherished pets. Most notably a little dog named Heidi, who reflected the love Augie gave her to anyone she met. Her compassionate nature was evident in the care and affection she showered upon her animal friends, who were a constant source of comfort and love throughout her life.
Those who knew Augie would describe her as mischievous, funny, and intelligent. She possessed a rare blend of humor and smarts that made her company irresistible and shown in a little twinkle in her eye. Her eclectic spirit was not confined to her taste buds; it was reflected in the way she approached life's challenges and opportunities with a pragmatic and courageous approach.
As we bid farewell to Aurelia "Augie" Terry, we celebrate a life lived intentionally. Her legacy of laughter, attentive nature, and bold spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Augie's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories told and the lives she touched. Though she may have left this world, her indomitable presence will forever be felt in the hearts of those she left behind.
