Bryan “Brown” “Big Dog” Garcia was granted his angel wings on Monday, November 30, 2020, at the age of 34.
Bryan was born November 5, 1986 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was a life-long resident of New Mexico.
From the time Bryan was a baby his personality was laid back, never in a hurry. We always said you didn’t have to tell Bryan to stop and smell the roses, he was sitting in the rose garden. Curiosity led him to many hobbies as a child; rock tumbling, calligraphy and coin collecting. Growing up he explored the outdoors with enthusiasm; building forts, digging holes for a self-made swimming pool, riding his bike and playing baseball. As he grew his enthusiasm for nature did as well. Bryan was an avid fisherman and camper. Sharing that passion with others, Bryan taught many of his friends and acquaintances how to fish, backpack and set up camp; even in the snow! At any given chance Bryan would pack his fishing pole and head out. Travelling to two of his favorite places, the Gulf Coast in Texas and the San Juan Mountains in Colorado Bryan lived life large, never passing up an opportunity explore and learn more about the world around him.
Bryan’s active participation in a young adult group at church helped him build and maintain a special relationship with God. It was there he also formed life-long relationships with others. The joy, hysterical laughter and love that resulted from these relationships will ring forever in hearts of the members in the group.
When Bryan set out to get his CDL he did so quietly. Working and going to school at the same time, he never complained, never gave in. Once certified he made a career in the propane business. Ever striving and learning more, setting goals for the next step up, work never stagnated. Bryan’s enthusiasm was admirable.
Bryan was a compassionate, quiet, gentle man. His patience and soft-spoken words brought a gentleness to those around him that truly affected his family. His love for his sister, Marlene and brothers, Steven and Joe transcended traditional sibling relationships. With no children of his own Bryan took a young teen, Angelo, under his wing and nurtured him in a special way that brought peace and laughter to both their lives. Bryan’s goodness and kindness will always surround his family and friends.
Bryan’s heart was too large for this earthly place. Now, as he walks through the door of home, and takes his place with God, his father, grandparents, numerous family members and friends, he sends his spirit and his love to comfort and care for those here. It is with deep sorrow and tears we say goodbye. It is with inspiration, from Bryan’s example, we will strive to live life to the level he achieved.
Good night Big Dog.
