Carmen M. Whatley went home to Jesus on October 29, 2020 at the age of 79.
Carmen was born to Onofre Barela on November 30, 1940 in Manuelitas, New Mexico.
Carmen was married to Gilbert Whatley (deceased) for over 50 years. She leaves behind four children, Rosemary, Katherine, Maria Judy and Norman as well as seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Vincent, Savanna, Shane, Jennifer, Norman Jr. and Anjaleah alongside one great grandchild, Isaiah.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, cousin and friend, Carmen also enjoyed taking cruises, attending fiestas and listening to New Mexican music.
Throughout her entire life, she was a devout Catholic and held an unwavering faith in God which she shared with those she loved and surrounded her.
"The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill. We miss her greatly..."
Psalm 23:4, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
Carmen's Life Celebration will begin on Monday, May 24, 2021 with a Rosary at 11:00 a.m. at Salazar Mortuary followed by a Catholic Service for in-person services. Parking is available in both parking lots adjacent to the building on the south side of chapel and east side of building.
