Cecilia Chavez

Cecilia Chavez, 94, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

She is preceded in death by her husband Charlie Chavez.
Cecilia is survived by her sons Joseph Chavez (Jeannette) and Philip Chavez (Pam); daughter Cecilia Backe (Michael); brother Fernando Sanchez; grandchildren Christopher, Amanda, Matthew, Michael, Jordan and Daniel; and one great-grandchild Liam.

A devout Catholic and life-long member of Saint Anne's Catholic Church she was one of seven siblings. She moved to Los Angeles in 1943 to work at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation as a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II. Upon the war's end, she returned to Albuquerque, where she reunited with and married her sweetheart, Charlie. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Cecilia's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on this Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Saint Anne's Catholic Church, located at 1400 Arenal Rd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. also at Saint Anne's Catholic Church. Burial will follow Services at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Sanchez, Daniel Gutierrez, Adrian Sanchez, Raymond Salas, Frank Delwiche, Steven Gutierrez, and Alex Gutierrez. Honorary pallbearers will be Shirley Gallegos, Lupita Pollock, Elaine Fordice, Cathy Garcia, Elizabeth Maloy, and Mary Ann Salas.
