Celena Catalina Alarid

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Celena Catalina Alarid, beloved mother, sister, cousin, niece, aunt and friend.

She passed unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the age of 41.

Celena is preceded in death by her parents Michael, Stella and Renee Alarid.

She is survived by her beautiful daughter Elizabeth Alarid-West,  sister Estella Alarid and her children Renee, Isiah, Valdejan and Ezriel, sister Luciana Jarrett and her husband Kyle and daughter Isabella. She is also survived by her Tia Elizabeth Alarid, husband Stephen Assaf and children Vanessa Alarid and Roberto Ramirez, along with several other family and friends that will miss her greatly.

Celena  was a 1996 graduate of  Albuquerque High School where she played softball and was the first girl ever on the AHS Wrestling Team.  She continued to play softball after high school and was on a Roller Derby Team for several years in Oakland California. She also loved camping, hiking and the outdoors.

Celena lived life just like she loved, with great intensity, a childlike spirit, and generous nature. She loved her family passionately, especially her daughter Elizabeth, and cherished time spent with family more than anything else. She was a bright light and her smile always lit up a room.

Celena will be missed deeply by those that knew and loved her.

Celena’s Life Celebration Service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St SW, 87102. A Reception to continue honoring her life with her family & friends will follow the Service at Barelas Event Center located at 907 4th St SW, 87102.
