Cheyne Kyler Begay went to be with our Lord and earned his wings surrounded by family on Monday, December 11, 2023.
Cheyne was preceded in death by his grandfather Peter James, grandmother Lillian Sam, and younger cousins Felicia Lucero, Callum Hurley, and Tatum Hurley.
Cheyne is survived by his parents, Rory (Chris) Begay, Nori Begay, younger brother Kyle Begay, cat Sally Jupiter Begay and wife of 8 years, Priscilla Moreno.
He was born on May 7, 1993, to Rory (Chris) Begay and Nori Begay in Winslow AZ.
Cheyne attended and graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School in 2011. He attended The University of New Mexico before discovering his passion in the food industry. He worked at many restaurants in the Durango area and shared his delicious meals with many people in the community. He loved all aspects of nature and loved to share his cooking creations with his friends and family. Cheyne had a generous spirit and would help others whenever he could. Cheyne loved spending time with his parents and brother going to shooting ranges and fishing. He enjoyed live music, playing video games, watching films, and reading. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved hiking in the Durango mountains and hanging out by the Animas River. He was a hardworking, sweet, kind, caring, wonderful man who had the best smile and sense of humor. Cheyne was a loyal and loving son, a brother, a husband, and friend. His favorite book was Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut and often quoted it "Cheyne Begay has come unstuck in time. Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.”
We are all blessed and thankful Cheyne was part of our lives. We love you forever Cheyne, and you will be dearly missed. Until we meet again. – Your Loving Family
