Daleen Gossett, also known as Momma D, a cherished soul known for her radiant warmth and unwavering dedication to family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Dale Gossett and Regina Sawyer; and in-law Saul Villasmil.
Daleen is survived by her children: Daniel Gossett and wife Sabrina, Roicelynn Winters, Justin Gossett; 11 grandchildren: Giovanna, Randin, Thunderlee, Davarion, Donovan, Braelynn, Savannah, Kellar, NaShyla, Crosby, Jahkiah; four sisters: Margaret Lee, Dana Williams, Renee Brooks, Lesley Sawyer; also, lots of nieces and nephews and many special cousins, including Roberta Jones and Husband Leon.
Daleen was born on October 25, 1961, in Albuquerque, Daleen's journey was one marked by love, laughter, and the simple joys of life.
Growing up as the eldest of five children, Daleen quickly assumed the role of protector, her strength and independence shining through even in her early years. Her straightforward, to-the-point demeanor was tempered by her innate selflessness and wisdom, traits that endeared her to all who knew her. A star in both volleyball and track during her high school years, she exhibited a natural athleticism and a competitive spirit that remained with her throughout her life.
Daleen's interests were as vibrant and colorful as her personality. She took great pleasure in diamond art and could often be found lost in the intricate patterns of her coloring books, her creative spirit finding solace in every stroke of color. Cooking and baking were not just hobbies but ways in which she expressed her love for others, her delicious Navajo tacos, mouth-watering Mexican cheeseburgers, and delectable chocolate chip cookies were legendary among family and friends. Her love for old rock and country music provided a soundtrack to many cherished family gatherings, her laughter ringing out above the tunes she adored.
Above all, Daleen's purpose in life was to be the best mom and grandma. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she dedicated herself to them with an unmatched fervor. Each moment spent with her grandkids was a treasure, filled with joy and the kind of love that leaves a lasting imprint on the soul. Her legacy as a maternal figure extended beyond her own family, as she often provided guidance and support to those around her, earning her a reputation for being a wise and nurturing presence in the lives of many.
Daleen's loving nature was matched only by her unwavering resolve. Stubborn yet endearing, she faced life's challenges head-on, never wavering in her convictions or her commitment to those she held dear. Her laughter was a beacon of light that could brighten the darkest of days, and her absence will be felt deeply by those who were fortunate enough to experience it.

Daleen will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 12:00pm at Sacred Heart Cemetery located at 3 Parish Lane, Quemado, NM 87829. A celebration of life will follow at the Largo Café located at 3426 US-60, Quemado, NM 87829.
