David Saiz passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his mother Luz Saiz, father, Timoteo Saiz granddaughter Veronica Saiz, and 14 brothers and sisters.
David is survived by his loving wife of almost 67 years, Lillian; children: William Saiz (Elsie Duran), Wendy Saiz (Dolly Nez), Tim Saiz (Veronica); cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: William Saiz (Kimberly) and sons Gavin and Austin, Paula Saiz and daughter Leilani, Jonathan Saiz, Aaron Saiz, Luzita Saiz (Corey Simpson) and children Veronica and Malachian, and Starla Saiz. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
He was born November 19, 1927, in the Albuquerque Barelas Neighborhood. His family lost their father when he was 11 months old. His mother had no choice but to place four of the youngest ones in the Saint Anthony’s Orphanage. The children were visited frequently by their mother and older siblings, as they eventually returned home - one by one - after a few years.
David was a humble man and lived life modestly. He was a happy man with an unbreakable good spirit and had continuous positive thoughts for just about everything. He proudly worked for the AT&SF Railroad for over 40 years before retiring to spend time with his grandkids. He was constantly entertaining his grandkids with bowling, swimming, Cliff's and eating at Furr’s or Shoney’s. David and Lillian would vacation visiting their older grandchildren in Florida and Texas as much as possible. David was an avid bowler until the age of 90, and rode his bike until he was 92 years old. His friends from bowling and work always referred to him as Brother Dave. His preferred sports teams were the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, and the UNM Lobos. Grandpa and Starla always told each other “Think good, do good” every time they were together. This confidence builder helped Starla win a National Martial Arts competition.
David’s Faith in God was strong and immeasurable. We know he is looking over the entire family with loving pride, as he is now in paradise with the Lord God. He always said “Vaya con Dios” to everyone that was leaving his home. "Vaya con Dios!"
