David "Davie" F. Lopez, Sr.

David “Davie” F. Lopez, Sr. passed away surrounded by love on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 88 years old.

He is preceded in death by his wife Anita Lopez and parents Dave Lopez and Regina Arvizo Lopez.

Davie is survived by his devoted and loving partner in crime Peggy L. Janeway; their combination of children: David F. Lopez, Jr. and wife Shanna, Bud Lopez, Anna-Marie Giannini and husband Armand, Sr., Patrick M. Lopez, Vicky Nalty and husband Ernie, Leigh Bresshears and husband Wyatt, Debbie Yeager and husband Scott.

Davie was born on May 15, 1936, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Gallup, New Mexico. He and Anita were married on July 21, 1962, raised four amazing children, and were inseparable until Anita’s passing in October 2000. Davie and Peggy started dating in 2001 and together they blended their families, and she was by his side until the end.

Davie's love for the great outdoors was matched only by his passion for hunting and the art of customizing guns. A skilled auto body technician by trade, he found joy and purpose in restoring and beautifying classic cars, each vehicle he worked on was a testament to his meticulous craftsmanship. His work was not merely a job but an expression of his artistic soul, with every brush stroke on a car or a canvas revealing his dedication to excellence. He enjoyed painting and was proud of his artistic abilities.

Beyond his talents, Davie was a man who exuded warmth and friendliness, touching the lives of those around him with his generous spirit. His legacy is one of creativity, a love for adventure in the wilderness, and the countless memories etched in the hearts of those who knew him.

As we bid farewell to David "Davie" F. Lopez, Sr., we celebrate a life lived with vigor and a man who painted his journey with bold and vibrant colors. His story will be told in the echoes of the forests he walked and the gleaming chrome of the cars he brought back to life. Davie's journey on this earth has ended, but his spirit will forever ride on.

Davie’s Life Celebration will begin with a Mass on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church located at 214 W Wilson Ave, Gallup, NM 87301. Davie will be laid to rest with Anita in a private ceremony at a later date.

Pallbearers will be Iven Sterns, Eddie Preston, Pat Scott, and Phil Arvizo.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Gabriel Lopez, Frank Gonzales, Joe Di Gregorio, Armand Giannini, Sr., and Ernest Laycock.

In lieu of flowers Davie requested donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
