Deborah Atler

Deborah “Debbie” Atler, age 64, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home in Albuquerque on Sunday, April 1, 2018.

She is survived by her husband Carl Atler and her two dogs Simone and Nel.   She was the loving mother of Jerome R. Muniz and wife Sally; Albert “Bert” Muniz and wife Carla; and the loving stepmother to Maria Ghahate and husband Eric; Missi Melendrez and husband Ralph.  She is also survived by brothers David L. Garcia, Ruben Garcia, Lenny Garcia, Richard “Dikki” Garcia and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was the oldest daughter of Paul and Bessie Garcia of Albuquerque, New Mexico and was preceded in death by her sister Francella Garcia on April 2, 2016, and her brother Vincent Garcia on June 4, 2016.

Deborah was a well-known professional hair dresser In Albuquerque and Las Vegas, Nevada where she was awarded Hairdresser of the year.    She and her husband Carl Atler operated the A-Mi-Gusto Lounge in SW Albuquerque for many years. She was also an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Isleta.  She will be greatly missed.

Deborah’s Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. both on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave NE 87110. Interment will be at a later date.
