Dolores Ortega

The family of Dolores Ortega is sad to announce her passing on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Dolores was a life-long resident of Albuquerque, but she loved to travel to as many far away places as possible. Dolores began working as an operator at Mountain Bell the day after she graduating high school in 1969, and over the next 33 years, she worked in many positions at the company that would become Qwest. She retired in 2002 from her job as a clerk in the construction department of Qwest. After retiring, she had a few part-time jobs, but her real passion was her extended family.

She took special joy in her eight nephews, and also loved her great-nephew and great-niece. A second great-niece came too recently for her to know the love of her great-aunt.

Dolores is preceded in death by her father, Robert Griego, and her son, Michael Montoya, who died at the age of four.

She is survived by her mother, Eva Griego, and her four siblings, Bobby Griego (Nancy), Eddie Griego (Debbie), Penny Griego-Thorp (Steve), and Adam Griego. She is also survived by dozens of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins who loved her just as much as the immediate family.

Services for Dolores will be held Friday, December 2nd, at 2pm, at Reflections Funerals & Life Celebrations, 2400 Washington St NE. Reception to follow service at the same location.
