Edward J. Chavez, Sr.

Edward Jerome Chavez, Sr. went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the age of 64.

Edward is preceded in death by his father David Chavez, mother Priscilla Soliz, grandson Edward Jerome Chavez III, four brothers, and one sister.

He is survived by longtime partner Rosemarie Nelson; daughter Germaine Tafoya (Johnny Tafoya); sons: Edward Jerome Chavez II (Lori Baeza), David Chavez (Crystal Garcia); grandchildren: JD, Isaiah, Arriana, Tony, JoJo, Azucena, Jonathan, Jazz, Angelica, Leroy; great-granddaughters: Aleanna and Rosie, along with many other family members and friends.

Edward was born on August 2, 1956 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He worked in the construction industry and was an expert at installing ceramic/marble tile. Many of his clientele included prominent New Mexicans. He was a hard worker and well known for his craft. Edward was nicknamed “fast Eddie” for how fast he could set tile. He was a lifelong Washington Redskins fan and was very knowledgeable about football.

Edward was a fun, loving, and caring man who easily made friends wherever he went. Edward was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family and friends. He was very proud of his sons and grandchildren. He adored his great-granddaughters.

Known as Dad, Pops, Grandpa Momo, Compa, and Friend he will be greatly missed by all who knew him and were blessed by his kindness.

Edward's Life Celebration will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11:30 am at Legacy Church East Campus located at 4701 Wyoming Blvd, 87109.
