Edward “Roadrat” Rodarte, 75 years young, went to Heaven to be with his wife Joyce on Sunday, November 29, 2020.
Fast Eddie was born June 22, 1945 to Edward R. Rodarte and Theresa M. Rodarte in Tucson, AZ.
He is survived by his daughter Michelle and husband Tim Payne, granddaughters: Tishell and Mikaela, daughter Lisa Rodarte, daughter Kim and husband Jon Wolf, grandsons: Justin and Michael, and many relatives, and extended family. Eddie also leaves behind many, many friends.
He honorably served our country for 4 years in the US Navy aboard the USS Bennington CVS20 M DIV from 1962-1966. While stationed in California, he met the love of his life, Joyce at Disneyland on New Years Eve which started their lifelong journey together. Eddie became a police officer with the Albuquerque Police Department when he returned to Albuquerque after his time in the Navy and proudly served our community for 36 years. He retired after 20 years with APD. He had his own private investigator business for 10 years, then was asked to go back to APD to restart the auto theft unit with his good friend and fellow officer John Dear. He worked with the auto theft unit for another 16 years. He was a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of Police where he served in many capacities. We had some great times over the years at the FOP!! He was also a longtime member of several organizations over the years, including the Blue Knights law enforcement motorcycle group. We had a lot of great times and rides with those folks.
Eddie never met a stranger. He was a great storyteller and he was loved by everyone who knew him. He loved a good meal (especially at the Monte Carlo), fast cars, fast motorcycles, a good Scotch, and a good cigar.
He will be dearly missed by all of us. Until we meet again Fast Eddie, cheers and ride on!!
