Eugene F. (Gene) Sandoval, 87, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018.
Gene was a devout Catholic, attending Immaculate Conception Parish in Albuquerque for over 60 years. During this time, he was active in many ministries including Sacristan, Extra Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion (both at Liturgy & to the home bound), and was especially proud of his service as a Minister of Hospitality at weekly liturgies. He enjoyed sharing meals with his friends following Mass. (He always wanted to pay!)
Born in Taos, NM on December 27, 1930 to Laureano & Magdalena Sandoval who predeceased him. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon his return from Korea, he moved his parents, brother George and two special needs sisters (who he helped care for until their deaths) to Santa Fe to attend St. Michael’s College. He worked for the State of New Mexico in the “new field” of “data processing.” The family then moved to Albuquerque when he began working for PNM in 1957, retiring in 1987.
Gene was an accomplished musician, looking forward to family gatherings where the music would flow!
In addition to his parents and sisters, Gene was preceded in death by his Brother and Sister In Law, Al and Angie; nephew Angelo; nieces Jennifer and Victoria; and nephew George Montoya. He is survived by his brother, Deacon George and wife Rebecca; nieces Adriana (Bill) and daughters; Ana Montoya and children; nephews Alvin Sandoval (Stella); Alan Sandoval and daughter; Christa Sandoval (Brandon) and son; Geoff Sandoval (Kathleen) and sons.
