Frank O. Cano

May 31, 1939 — May 24, 2024

Frank O. Cano, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024, just a week shy of his 85th birthday.

He was preceded in death by daughter Rochelle Linson-Cano, brother Bernie Cano, mother Stella Chavez, her husband Ben Chavez and father Frank Cano, Sr.

Frank is survived by his daughter Ashley Gutierrez and husband Phillip, son Stanley, grandchildren: Jazlynn, Dominic, Dakota and Ella, brother Pat Cano and wife Marie, sisters: Cathy Sanchez and husband Thomas, Linda Kelleher and husband Kevin, Janet Cordova and husband Steve, Debbie Jojola and husband Leroy, also many nieces, nephews, and the countless friends.

Frank was born on May 31, 1939, in the small town of Hagan, Frank's life was a testament to the joy of adventure, the warmth of family, and the strength of unwavering support.

His early years on the family ranch with his grandparents were filled with the kind of stories that he would recount with a twinkle in his eye. His love for the ranch was only matched by his passion for sports. At the tender age of 17, his talent on the baseball field caught the attention of the Dodgers, who wanted him to join their ranks. However, his parents' wish for him to stay close to home saw him forgo this opportunity, a decision that spoke volumes about his dedication to family—a trait that would define him for the rest of his life.

An adventure lover at heart, Frank found joy and freedom on the open road, riding motorcycles with the wind in his hair. He was equally at home on the water or carving through fresh snow, always seeking the next thrill. Yet, it was his family that remained his greatest adventure. Frank's love for his children and grandchildren knew no bounds, and he would do anything to see them smile.

Frank's interests were as vast as the New Mexico skies. He was a fan of all music, loved to dance and his loyalty to his favorite sports teams—the Cowboys, the Yankees and Duke Basketball—was unwavering. Road trips were a family affair, and he took pride in teaching his daughters the almost lost art of reading a map. His competitive spirit shone through during his time in a bowling league, where he was known for his friendly banter and impressive scores.

A true entrepreneur, Frank owned a couple of businesses throughout his life. His purpose, however, was never just about success; it was about making people smile and bringing them together. Frank's businesses were extensions of his personality—places where laughter was shared, and friendships were forged.

Those who knew Frank would describe him as adventurous, selfless, and loving. He was the kind of man who was always there when you needed him—dependable and supportive. His presence was a comfort, his unique facial expressions were one of kind, and his laughter was infectious.

Frank's legacy is one of joy, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones. He lived a life that was full and spirited, leaving behind a trail of memories that will continue to inspire and delight all who were fortunate enough to know him.

As we bid farewell to Frank O. Cano, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a man deeply loved. His spirit will forever ride on in the hearts of those he touched, and his stories will continue to be told with admiration and a smile.
