Fred Griego III went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at the age of 73.
Fred was a proud Vietnam Veteran who had a passion for helping his community, especially the youth. He committed himself to providing young people with opportunities for a brighter future through civic engagement, gang prevention, and scholarship preparation. He was an avid sports fan and loved the 49ers, SF Giants, and the Dukes/Isotopes.
Fred was a UNM alumni and also loved the Lobos, attending the football and basketball games often. His passion for life was shown through his work and his brilliant smile. He always had a funny joke to share and he influenced many with his words of kindness and wisdom.
He is preceded in death by his father Fred Griego Sr, mother Dolores Chavez Griego, Brothers: Fred Griego Jr., Robert Griego, Orlando Griego, Billie Griego and Raymond Griego
He is survived by his daughter Andrea Griego, brother Rudy Griego (Dolores), sister Judy Griego Ruth (Bob), and many nieces and nephews.
He loved his daughter with his whole heart and they often laughed at the many similarities they shared.
He will be greatly missed by so many whose lives he touched throughout his 73 years.
Fred's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 5:30pm at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St SW, 87102. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm also at Salazar Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, February 5, 2020 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located at 619 Copper Ave NW, 87102, followed by a Committal service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, 87501.
Pallbearers will be Mark Raby, Juno Raby, Ralph David Raby, Orlando Griego, Jude Griego, and Francisco Raby Mondragon.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Adam Raby and Tony Salas.
