George Tafoya, born on September 23, 1958, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, in his life long home of Albuquerque, New Mexico
He was preceded in death by his father Max Tafoya, wife Tina Tafoya, and granddaughter Majestik Tafoya.
George is survived by his mother Fabiola Tafoya, brother Luis Tafoya and SO Debra Sandoval, sister Cindy Gutierrez and husband Rick Gutierrez, three step-children: Michelle Tafoya and wife Samantha Tafoya, Phillip Tafoya and wife Kristin Tafoya, Angela Calderon and husband Sergio Calderon, and eight step-grandchildren and two great step-grandchildren.
George retired from the City of Rio Rancho where he worked as a Facility Maintenance Manager. He was dedicated to his job for over 26 years. Upon retirement he enjoyed his time with family and friends, especially Orlena Serna, who was always there to support him through every challenge.
For twenty-nine years George was a dedicated and active member of the American Legion Post 69, where he not only served his community but also forged lifelong friendships. His laughter was a familiar echo at gatherings, and his presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew him.
An avid music lover, George's taste ranged from the soulful strains of oldies to the vibrant chords of rock and country music. His love for music was only matched by his passion for his favorite sports team, the Rams.
As we remember George, we celebrate the good times. The laughter, kindness and his commitment to bringing happiness to others. George's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories and laughter he leaves behind.
George's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 8:00am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church located at 9502 4th St NW, 87114. Service will begin at 9:00am. George will be laid to rest following the Service at San Carlos Cemetery located at 4300 Alameda Blvd NE, 87113.
Pallbearers will be Frankie Gabaldon, Leonard Duran, James Lucero, and Phillip Tafoya.
