Geronimo "Jerry" Jaramillo

Geronimo "Jerry" Jaramillo, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1, 2023, in his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

He is reunited with his wife Sally Jaramillo and their beloved sons Melvin Jaramillo and Patrick Jaramillo.

Jerry is survived by his daughter-in-law Helen Jaramillo; granddaughters: Mayline, Dominique, Kellyann; great-grandkids: Zipporah, Wyatt; sisters: Primi, Pauline, and brother Porfirio.

Jerry was born on February 16, 1937 in Reserve, New Mexico. Jerry didn’t attend school, he learned everything he knew by being hands on. After he moved to Belen he ended up meeting his future wife Sally. They had two amazing sons. Their sons would go on to have children of there own and give Jerry the honored title of grandfather. His favorite thing was spending time with his family.

He worked for the Albuquerque Journal and Tribute for 30 years and made a succesful career out of it. His coworkers had nicknamed him “Baby Jerry” because his wife always made him an extravagant lunch everyday.

Jerry had a passion for breaking wild horses and being on the ranch. You would never see Jerry without a cowboy hat, a pair of wranglers, and cowboy boots on his feet. He loved rodeos, dancing, and going to the fiestas.

When Mel, passed away, Helen took on the role of his care taker. She would to check on him, take him to appointments, etc. He would go all over town with her, and he loved it. The past couple years he and Helen became closer than before. He looked at Helen as his daughter.

Jerry will truly be missed, but we find comfort in knowing he is watching over us with his wife and sons at his side.

Jerry's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 10:00 am at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St SW, 87102. Rosary will be recited at 11:00 am. Service wil begin at 11:30 am.
