Gilbert was born on June 27, 1943 in Wagon Mound, New Mexico. He served twenty-five years in the New Mexico National Guard earning the rank of Sergeant before retiring. He worked as a trucker driver and with the Rio Grande Conservancy District.
He was a hard worker, had a positive attitude, a friendly personality and a generous spirit.
He and Frances enjoyed attending church fiestas and visiting Indian Pueblos during feast days. He loved riding his horse in the bosque and in the east mountains. His favorite time of the year was during the New Mexico State Fair where he would ride his horse in the parade and in Grand Entry at the start of the Rodeo.
His finest hours were those times he and James lovingly took care of Frances during her courageous struggle with diabetes and cancer. Thank you, James for also taking care of your father during his final days.
Gilbert’s body is no longer suffering and his spirit is free. The family is grateful to each everyone who shared their prayers and condolences. It means a lot to us. Thank you.
