Gloria Baca

July 5, 1946 — December 31, 2024

Gloria Baca, affectionately known as Nana to those who knew her best, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the age of 78.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Francisco Garcia and Elizabeth Yepes.

She is survived by her daughters: Christina Walton (husband Chris), Elizabeth Baca; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Tootsie.

Born on July 5, 1946, in Gallup, New Mexico, Gloria spent the majority of her life raising her family in Albuquerque and it was there that she drew her final breath, surrounded by the warmth of her home.

Gloria's life was one marked by the joy she found in the simple pleasures. A shopper at heart, she delighted in the discovery of Goodwill finds that would become gifts for her children or grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she invested her time and love in nurturing their growth and happiness.

Love and laughter filled Gloria's home, with the revolving door of sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as they would enjoy her company. A self-proclaimed Denver Broncos fan, she always rooted for the chosen teams of her grandson’s and daughters. Gloria's nature as a homebody was a testament to her contentment with the life she built and the company she kept.

Professionally, Gloria was a talented hairdresser and a compassionate caretaker, roles that allowed her to touch the lives of many with her kindness and wisdom. She was everyone's rock, a steadfast presence in times of need. Her love for pictures and cooking were expressions of her desire to preserve memories and to nurture those around her. Known for always being right, her advice was sought after and her words carried weight.
