Herman O. Lovato

Herman O. Lovato passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank Sr. and Emma Lovato, brother Frank Lovato Jr., and great niece Vanessa Lovato.

He is survived by his children: Yvonne Lovato, Tracy Sanchez and husband Greg, Janet Lovato, Joseph Lovato and wife Anna, Orlando Lovato; brother Art Lovato and wife Judi; sister in law Erlinda Lovato; 11 grandchildren: Elena, Austin, Mateo, Darion, Damion, Sean Easton, Adrian, Monique, Joseph, Antonio, Brooklyn, 4 Godchildren: Donna, Andrea, Norah, Julie, also many family and friends.

Herman was born on October 5, 1946 in Albuquerque, NM, He was currently a resident of Phoenix, AZ. Herman served in the US Navy. He was a former State Farm Agent and most recently was an independent contractor.

Herman had a huge heart. He will be remembered for his fun personality. He could make anyone laugh with his sense of humor. He would force a smile out of anyone, even if they were mad.

He was often found playing backgammon on the computer or betting on whatever sport was in season.  Herman loved all sports. He played them, coached them, and had endless conversations about them. He even owned the players, like his racehorses. He coached YAFL for many years leading to 2 Super Bowl wins. He coached football at Highland High School  and baseball at Albuquerque High School. He was also a coach for his son’s boys club basketball team.

Herman served in the United States Navy. He was an excellent salesman. He could sell you that shirt you're wearing as you wore it, kind of salesman. He was a State Farm agent for 18 years and was currently a lead generator and mentor for a successful insurance company.

If you knew Herman, you knew he loved his phone and he loved to talk!! You might have gotten numerous calls from him and sometimes numerous times a day. Herman loved talking to his friends and family about sports, world news, and family. Herman loved to hear about his kids. He especially loved to hear when they spent time together. You could hear the frog in his throat as he talked with pride about what his kids and grandkids were doing and achieving. He loved hearing about all their sporting events. He made sure to brag to everyone on his daily calls about his kids and grandkids. We all will miss hearing his voice.

He will be missed by all who loved him.

Herman's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 9:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located at 619 Copper Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Mass will begin at 10:00am. Burial will take place at 12:45 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 501 N. Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501.

Pallbearers will be Martin Lovato, Frank Lovato, Robert Castillo, and Jerry Miera.

Honorary Pallbearers will be all his grandchildren.

Due to COVID restrictions set in place by the Governor masks are MANDATORY to attend Herman's Rosary, Mass, and Burial. Capacity limits for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church are to be announced. Santa Fe National Cemetery is allowed to have 10 people under in the shelter and asks that all attendees stand back in socially distant groups.
