Ida Romero

Ida Romero passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the age of 90, in her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ostelano Romero, mother Chonita Aragon, brother Frankie Lewis, and grandson Ralph Romero.

Ida is survived by her children: Mary Lou Romero, Lina Gutierrez, James Romero, Billy Romero, Veronica Romero and husband Ralph, Micheal Romero and wife Sharee, Antonia Trujeque and husband Daniel; sisters: Demi Ramirez, Chonita Corona; 22 grandkids, 47 great-grandkids and 15 great-great-grandkids.

Born on July 13, 1934, also in Albuquerque, Ida was a woman whose love for her family and her passion for teaching were the center of her life. Her generosity to give up her teaching to be a care taker for her husband at an early age shows how dedicated she was as a wife and mother. Her home was a reflection of her heart, filled with collected knick-knacks, cherished photographs, and the aromas of fresh tortillas and her famous Christmas cookies brought happiness to all. Those who knew Ida will remember her love for the casinos. Often she would vacation in Laughlin and Las Vegas with her family and her husband Tilo. As a proud grandmother Ida was a source of warmth, love , and wisdom for her grandchildren. Her gentle nature and her playful spirit will be cherished and will live in the hearts of her family.

Ida will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of sharing in her kindness and unforgettable smile.

Ida's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Ida will be laid to rest following the Service at Mount Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, 87102.

Pallbearers will be granddaughters Elena, Peggy, Vanessa, and Desiree.

Honorary Pallbearers will be granddaughters Danielle, Juliet, Jessica, Patricia, Joanna, Ida Marie, Krystal, and Chantel.
