It is with great sadness the family of Ignacio “Nash” Nuanes announce his passing on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the age of 88.
He was born on June 5, 1932 in Escobosa, NM to his parents Estanislado Nuanes and Andrellita (Montoya) Nuanes. He was married 68 years to Maria Eloisa (Carabajal) Nuanes and they were blessed with 8 children. He proudly served his country during the Korean War and also retired from the City of Albuquerque after 32 years with the City’s Animal Control Center.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Leo Nuanes, Flavio Nuanes, Claudino Nuanes, sister Regina Lucero, nephew Michael Gutierrez, son in law Hank Cadena, and grandson Nicholas Tapia.
Ignacio will forever be remembered by his family including: Dee Nuanes, Dorothy (Hank) Cadena and sons Henry (Caren) Cadena, and Dominic Cadena, Jerry (Susan) Nuanes and children Monica Nuanes and Paul (Monique) Nuanes, and daughter Ava, Jean (Sam) Salazar and children Shawn, Sammy, and Cassandra, Joyce (Vidal) Tapia and daughters Vanessa (Jose) Arballo, and daughters Arianna and Aleah, and Angela Tapia and son Nolan Tapia-Patton, Ronald Nuanes and sons Ryan and Audie, Liz (Adrian) Alarcon and children Adrian (Jennifer) Nuanes, Raquel and daughter Elaine, and Chelsea, Georgianna (Fernando) Aragon and children Aiden and Iliana. Ignacio is also lovingly remembered by sister Toni (Ray) Proctor, brother Albert (Hilia) Jackson in addition to many other nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
Ignacio loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching Wrestling, working on antique cars and car shows. He was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a talented musician, and performed for many years in Our Lady of Guadalupe, San Ignacio Church and Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary choirs, playing the guitar and accordion, and every birthday always sang “Today is your Birthday” in spanish and english. He brought joy to the lives of his family and led with amazing strength, courage, and grace. He will be sorely missed by so many and will forever hold a special place in our hearts. His kindness and generosity were a gift to all of the lives he touched, always putting others before his own needs.
Ignacio's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church located at 1860 Griegos Rd NW, 87107. Mass will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 11:30 am also at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery for immediate family only. Due to the COVID restrictions and in the interest of safety for all, no reception will be held.
Due to the COVID restrictions set in place by the Governor the church has a capacity of 80 people during the Rosary and Mass. Masks are MANDATORY.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Henry Cadena, Dominic Cadena, Paul Nuanes, Ryan Nuanes, Audie Nuanes, and Aiden Aragon.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Adrian Nuanes, Sammy Salazar, Nolan Tapia-Patton, and Nicholas Tapia.
