Israel Morales Jr.

Israel Morales Jr. age 84, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 13, 2019.

He was the first of five children born to Israel & Louisa Morales Sr., who precede him in death.

Israel was born on September 3, 1934, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he was raised. He was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, Class of 1953. He met Ernestine R. Chavez in 1951, and they were married on June 27, 1953.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years with Honors. He joined the Albuquerque Fire Department in 1958, where he dedicated 23 years of service; retiring as Captain.

Israel is survived by his devoted and loving wife of almost 66 years, Ernestine “Vida” Morales, daughter Debra “Debby” and husband Jimmy R. Williams, granddaughters; Desirae Garcia, Tynique Williams and fiancé Cory Griego, step-daughter Teagan Griego,  grandson Adrian Denzel and wife Jaqueline Morales, great-granddaughter Zia Ida Rose, son Louis and Wife Emily Morales, her son RJ Sucholl, his son Martin Morales, their daughter Sabrina and husband Fernando Marrujo, great-grandson Johnny Louis, daughter Monique M. Morales, extended grand and great grandchildren; grandson Andres and Wife Jessica Fierro, great granddaughters; Avianna, AnaLeigha, and Ariella, granddaughter Jessica and Husband Josh Palmer, great-granddaughter BettyAnn Ruth, granddaughter Lynn and Husband Albert Buckner, great-granddaughters; Emma and Elena, great-grandson Eli, and grandson Dennis Williams.

He is preceded in death by his son Adrian Michael Morales.

Israel had a generous nature to those closest to him. He had a unique sense of humor, was a wonderful story teller for all who would hear him speak, he was a great provider and loving father for his family, where he aided and assisted Ernestine in taking care of Monique, their daughter with special needs for 51 years.

Family and friends are welcome to join the family in the celebration of his life beginning with Rosary Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 7:00 pm. at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St SW Albuquerque, NM 87102. Mass will be held Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 10:00 am. at Salazar Mortuary. Followed by Burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15pm.
