Jacob Tafoya, 77, passed from this life in his home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on Friday, March 21, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his wife Sandra, parents Florentino and Adella, brother Florentino, Jr., and granddaughter Shelby.
Jacob is survived by his two sons: Rich (Stephanie), David (Tina); grandchildren: Elisia, Jacob, Elijah, Seth, Caleb, Ryan, Joshua, Courtnie, Courtney; great-grandchildren: Kaden, Jack, Raiden, Makenzie, Haley, Paislee; siblings: Frank, Rudy, Mike, Larry, Steve, Yvonne, Therese; nieces and nephews: Becky, Victoria, Kimberly, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Jacob , known also as Jake, was born on December 13, 1947 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was deployed to Vietnam as an artillery specialist. Jacob and his unit were under fire and it was said that, "Jacob was a one man army." He was honored and highly decorated for his service in Vietnam.
After his service Jake worked for NASA Space Shuttle at Rockwell International as a Aerospace Machinist. After retirement he enjoyed life in Tahlequah, OK, where his son and daughter-in-law cared for him in his latter days.
He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, old cars, motorcycles, and antiques.
Jake was greatly loved and will be truly missed.
Jacob's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Service will begin at 2:00pm. Jake will be laid to rest on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 9:30am at Santa Fe National Cemetery located 501 N Guadalupe St., 87501.
