James "Jimbo" Gurule, Jr.

April 28, 1965 — August 19, 2021

James “Jimbo” Gurule, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the age of 56.

Jimbo was preceded in death by his father James Gurule, Sr., daughter Jessica Gurule and granddaughter Jessica Annise Gurule-Alderete.

He is survived by his wife Sarah Gurule; daughter Juliana Jones and husband Anthony; son James Gurule and wife Alma; four grandchildren: Jayden, Justice, G, Logan; mother Rosie Moya; brother Richard Moya; the Mora Family; and 10 uncles whom he was raised with as brothers.

He loved going hunting and fishing with his uncles, grandpa Mora, and grandpa Gurule. His grandpa Mora had a farm and he would help him with the animals.

In his younger years he worked for Chavez Auto Parts and Lujan Auto Parts. He knew every part of every car. If anyone needed a certain part for a certain vehicle, Jimbo knew if they had it and exactly where it was. He became the family mechanic. His last job was with RMCI General Contractor and Pipeline Construction, he worked there for 23 years. He was one of their best pipe layers. He loved his job, loved learning new things and was a hard worker. He traveled and worked all over New Mexico. His coworkers became his work family. When they had to work out of town, he would always take his fishing rod and enjoy fishing with his work family.

He loved his Harley and enjoyed riding to Taos. His favorite place to eat there was Michael’s Restaurant. He loved to eat and would try anything.

He loved his family and his priority was to always provide for them. He never skipped a beat when they needed him. He loved attending his grandkids sports activities. He was so proud of them. He kept his grandpa Mora’s tradition of having a matanza every 2 years. He followed the tradition every step of the way, from burying the pig to cook it under ground, to making carne adovada and chicharones, and everyone bringing all the sides and having a great time. Rain or shine if it was planned, it was going to happen. He loved gathering the family together. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and loved the Chicago Bulls. He was always joking, giving you a hard time, just enjoying life.

We will always remember your contagious smile and you will be terribly missed.
