Jerry Lynn Greenberg

January 9, 1951 — March 18, 2018

Jerry Lynn Greenberg, born January 9, 1951, passed away on March 18, 2018 in Albuquerque after a long illness. Jerry was an active and loved member of the Nichiren Buddhism/Soka Gakkai International (SGI) community. He worked in construction during the 1970s, building his own solar home in 1981. After suffering a massive stroke during a medical procedure at age 32, Jerry demonstrated amazing strength and resilience despite permanent disabilities. Although the brain injury took much from him, he maintained a lively sense of humor and a fierce determination. He greatly loved his sons and granddaughter, was an avid baseball fan, and enjoyed an evening out listening to jazz or the symphony.

Jerry was preceded in death by his younger son, Jesse Chapman Greenberg. He is survived by his spouse, Janet Mary Chapman of Albuquerque; his son and granddaughter, Damon Chapman Greenberg and Jessica Greenberg of Derry, New Hampshire; three siblings, Barry Greenberg of Portland, Oregon, Lori Greenberg Pullen of West Dereham, Norfolk, United Kingdom, and Jody Greenberg Kahra of Big Bear Lake, California; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations can be made to the New Mexico Brain Injury Resource Center (NMBIRC) or the NM Philharmonic. Donations to honor Jerry's memory can be made to The New Mexico Brain Injury Resource Center (NMBIRC), https://www.arcaopeningdoors.org/services/new-mexico-brain-injury-resource-center, or the NM Philharmonic, www.nmphil.org.

Jerry's Life Celebration will begin with a memorial service on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the SGI center, 1911 Sunshine Terrace SE.
