Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. and Norma L. (Putnam) Gates.
He is survived by Charles “Eddie” Gates of Maricopa, Arizona.
Born on September 6, 1955, also in Albuquerque, Jerry's life was a testament to the joy and love he brought to everyone around him. Jerry's passion for sports, especially his beloved Vikings, was matched only by his dedication to his craft. A proud member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local Union 412 of Albuquerque, NM, he recently celebrated a remarkable milestone of 50 years of service, commemorated by a well-deserved pin and certificate. His career took him to many places and he embraced the opportunity to travel for work, always eager to meet new people and experience different cultures.
In 2022, Jerry experienced a profound spiritual transformation and got saved, an event that deepened his purpose in life—to give to others. His giving heart was evident in every interaction, and his selflessness became a beacon of hope to those who knew him. Jerry's blue eyes sparkled with kindness and mirth, reflecting the loving and funny soul that resided within.
Jerry's legacy is one of laughter, love, and selflessness. His ability to make others smile, even in the face of adversity, was one of his most cherished qualities. He lived his life with an open heart, always ready to lend a hand or share a joke, and his presence was a gift to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
