John Valdez, Ii

John Valdez II, passed away at age 46, on Thursday, December 9, 2021, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his grandma Francis, grandpa Manuel, grandpa Antonio, grandma “G”, his dads: John Valdez I and Marty Richards.

John is survived by his mama Ruby; daughter Monique Valdez; son John Valdez, III; siblings: Janelle, Jerrod, Jewels, Jeanikra, Jeanine; nieces: Willow, Cydnee, Savannah, Ellie; nephews: Gabriel, Donavan, Ezekiel, Elijah, Andrew, Lucas, also his girlfriend Tanya and her two boys: Sal and Daniel.

John was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 19, 1975.  John was a lover of baseball. He started playing Pee-Wees when he was about 5 years old at West Gate Little League. He was able to play any position, but Pitching was his favorite. John went on to play baseball all four years at West Mesa High School. He also played 1 year of football at West Mesa High School, but preferred to “watch it”. John loved watching his son, John III, play multiple sports; but of course his favorite to watch him play was baseball.

John was a very hard worker. He held many jobs throughout his lifetime, including construction/labor with his dad, Marty, a Correctional Officer and a Coca-Cola associate. John was always striving to be the best he could be at any job he had.

John was always a happy-go-lucky guy and he loved to make everybody laugh.  John had a mischievous look about him once he smiled showing his dimples; that’s when you knew he was up to something.

John was what you could call a “mama’s boy”. He loved her like no other and always did anything for her. He adored his grandma “G”, he especially cherished her love and prayers over the years. He had so many cousins, but was especially closest to Ramon.

John made a lot of friends throughout his lifetime. His best friends were Desi and J.D., they meant the world to him. John enjoyed watching his favorite football team, The Cowboys, especially with his uncle Kent, a fellow fan.

John was surrounded by such a large family. John was loved by all and will be seriously missed.

John's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 11:00 am at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Service will begin at 12:30 pm.  Reception following the service in the Salazar Mortuary Life Event Center.
