Jose Ernesto Romero

Jose “Ernie” Romero passed away at home on March 18, 2023. He was born on November 13, 1933 and was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque.

He is survived by his four children Joseph “Charlie” Romero, Catherine Romero, Raymond “Andy” Romero (Kim), and James Romero; and seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Bertha Nunez Romero; his parents Pablo and Dorotea Romero; and his seven adult siblings Maria Reimer, Alcario Romero, Ophelia Quintana, Leonela Rea, Rosendo Romero, Robert Romero, and Floyd Romero. Ernie served in the United States Navy for 4 years and worked for the United States Postal Service for 26 years as a mailman. He enjoyed baseball and watching sports, playing slots at the casino, and the company of his family.

Funeral services will be at St. Anne Catholic Church on Friday, March 24, 2023. A rosary will be held at 8:15 immediately followed by a funeral mass at 9:00. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Reception will follow at American Legion Post 13.
