Jose D. Silva, born November 19, 1922, departed this life on March 24, 2014. He was born to Manuel and Teodora Silva in Lemitar, NM and was a long-time resident of Albuquerque.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, on March 1993.They were married in July 1946. He is survived by his son, Manuel and his partner, Sandy Adams; daughters: Ellen and husband John Wilson, Margaret and husband Pat J. Velarde, Paulette and husband Gilbert Jefferson, and Christina [Tina] Silva; nine granddaughters: Jennifer, Elena, Amanda, Alicia, Melanie, Jessica, Carmen, Spirit Rae and Sara; grandsons: Kenny and Jared; great-granddaughters: Marisa, Anais, JoAnne, Gabriella, and one on-the-way; and great-grandsons: Isaiah and Deven.
He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II, joined the U.S. Postal Service in February 1948 and retired in February1986.
Jose's Life Celebration will begin on Thursday, March 27, 2014 with a Viewing at Salazar Mortuary from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. with Rosary to follow at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church (4020 Lomas Blvd. NE 87110), at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, with interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Armijo, Phillip Armijo, Cecilio Silva, Oscar Silva, Paul Maron, Robert Ayres and Mark Carrillo.
