Jose "Joe" Encinias

Jose “Joe” Encinias, 74, was called to eternal resting on Monday, October 5, 2020.

He was born on December 23, 1945 in Montezuma, New Mexico. He was a long time resident of Cañon, New Mexico, but had recently moved to Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

Joe was a United States Army Veteran. He honorably served in the 101st Airborne Division “ Screaming Eagles”. Prior to him enlisting in the Army he was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion in Clovis, New Mexico.

He was a kind, quiet, and gentle man who loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He was a hard worker and took pride in everything he did. His passions were hunting, camping, fishing, playing cards, his 1962 Chevy Impala, watching the Oakland Raiders, and watching his “Cowboys” Western shows.

Joe is preceded in death by his mother Venerada Garcia, Son Rocky Encinias, Brother Antonio Garcia II, Sister Anna Solano, Tio Bernardino Encinias, and Tia Flora Encinias.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Veronica Encinias; Daughters: Valerie Mendibles (Lee), Vanessa Williams (Christino); Sons: Jerome Encinias (Jessica), Santiago Encinias (Maria); sisters: Luci Ulibarri, Priscilla Garcia, Connie Barges, Tia Alice Encinias, also 17 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Joe’s Life Celebration will begin with a Viewing on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. at Church of the Incarnation Catholic Church located at 2309 Monterrey Blvd NE in Rio Rancho. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am. Mass will begin at 10:00 am. Joe will be laid to rest with military honors following the Mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, 87102.

Pallbearers will be Armando Mendibles, Richard Jaramillo Jr., Christino Williams, Daniel Ulibarri, Tomas Encinias and Antonio “ Tito” Garcia.

Honorary pallbearers will be Estevan Encinias, Marcus Williams, and Santino Williams.

Due to the COVID restrictions set in place by the Governor masks are MANDATORY to attend Joe's Viewing, Rosary, Mass, and Burial. Mount Calvary allows 10 people to be near the graveside, they ask that the rest of the family stay at a distance.
