Joe was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his grandson Martin Romero; parents Jose and Romelia Hernandez; siblings: Rose Perez, Carmen Lopez, and Vincent Hernandez.

Joe is survived by his wife Anna Hernandez; children: Paul and wife Cindy Hernandez, Cindy and husband John Romero, Joseph and wife Tanya Hernandez; siblings: Simon Hernandez, Barbara Herdina; grandchildren: Ashleigh Hernandez, Ryan Hernandez, James Romero, and Amaya Hernandez.

Joe served honorably in the United States Army from January 1962 to January 1964, demonstrating unwavering dedication and bravery. His commitment to protecting our nation was a testament to his strength and character. Joe’s service will always be remembered as a legacy of courage that will continue to inspire us all.

Joe's life was a testament to the power of quiet strength and unwavering dedication to his loved ones and the work of his hands. His love for life was clear in the way he carefully tended to everything around him, from his rentals to his pets, and his garden and yard. His hands, often stained with the earth, shaped the land around him just as he shaped the lives of those he loved. It can’t go unmentioned that Joe also had a love for sweets, and that sweet tooth reflected his sweet nature, always bringing joy, wisdom and love to our lives. He also enjoyed playing his guitar whether it was by himself or other family members.

A man of few words, Joe's presence was a fortress of stability and support for his family. His actions spoke volumes, illustrating the virtues of being an amazing role model. He was the cornerstone of his family, always there to take care of everyone and to hold them down during the storms of life. His love was a guiding light, unwavering and unconditional.

Joe's helpful nature was a beacon to all who knew him, and his loving manner made him a cherished member of his family. He was the embodiment of the word "handy," able to fix, build, or solve problems with an ease that left many in awe. His wisdom was sought by many, and his ability to love without bounds made him a treasured friend and relative.

Joe's Life Celebration will begin with a Viewing on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 8:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church located at 562 Atrisco Dr. SW, 87105. Rosary will be recited at 8:30am. Mass will begin at 9:00am. Joe will be laid to rest following the Mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, 87102.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence Perez, David Hernandez, Michael Hernandez, Ashleigh Hernandez, Ryan Hernandez, and James Romero.

Honorable Pallbearers will be Martin Romero and Amaya Hernandez
