Jose "Pop" Jaramillo

November 17, 1950 — February 13, 2024

It is with profound esteem and affection that we celebrate the life of Jose Jaramillo, known fondly as "Pop," who passed away at his home in Peralta, New Mexico, on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents Serapio and  Eliza Jaramillo; daughter Veronica Romero; three sisters: Flora Baca, Herlinda Jaramillo, Chavelita Jaramillo; and brother Eloy Jaramillo

He is survived by His girlfriend Lou Aragon; her children: Chris Aragon, Krestin Baca; Krestin's three children who Pop loved dearly: Destinee Baca and fiancé Billy Marquez, Nicholas Baca, Alivia Baca; four brothers: Luis Jaramillo and wife Josie, Serapio Jaramillo, Jr., Bernardo Jaramillo, Ralph Jaramillo; four sisters: Lugie Espinoza, Faye Trujillo, Lucy Bachicha, Beatrice Tafoya, also many nieces and nephews.

Born in Dilia, New Mexico, on November 17, 1950, Pop’s exuberant spirit and hearty laughter infused joy into the lives of all who knew him.

A proud veteran, Pop's service in the Army was a testament to his strong-willed nature. His dexterity and creativity shone brightly as he turned tree branches and newspaper into intricate wooden treasures. Fishing and visits to casinos were among his cherished pastimes, bringing him both peace and excitement.

Above all, Pop dedicated his life to his family, the core of his expansive heart. Described as funny, kind, and thoughtful, his legacy endures in the countless happy memories shared with loved ones.

Pop’s indomitable spirit and genial presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation for “Pop”  will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Our lady of Guadalupe Parish (3674 Hwy 47, Peralta) Rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m. Mass will begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Peralta Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Baca, Billy Marquez, Chris Aragon, Mathew Jaramillo, Robert Garcia, Charle Stearns.
