Lawrence V. Tafoya

February 14, 1947 — October 3, 2021

Lawrence V. Tafoya, 74, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 3, 2021.

He is reunited with his wife Mary Tafoya, father Daniel P. Tafoya, mother Piedad Campos-Tafoya, and brother Raymond Tafoya.

Lawrence is survived by his life partner of 30+ years Maria E. Sanchez; sons: Lawrence V. Tafoya, Jr., Daniel V. Tafoya; daughters: Crystal C. Tafoya, Michelle M. Tafoya (Amanda Perez), Anna Sedillo (Mario Sedillo), Theresa Tafoya; sister MaryAnn Tafoya, 8 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

The man in the bandana was an amazing friend, uncle, brother, father, and grandfather. Full of dad jokes, he won people over with his wit, old fashioned charm, and wicked sense of humor. Born in Albuquerque, he grew his business as a local General Contractor. Equipped with his flip phone and paper map, he’d venture off serving his community for 45+ years.

When he wasn’t working, he could be found with his family. This included trips after school with the grandkids to Target, exploring the Dinosaur Museum with his treasured grandson, Evan, or as he referred to Evan – “my son.” One call to him and he was up for anything, including spontaneous trips for coffee, always black with one equal.

On top of everything else, he was the roof that sheltered us from the storms outside. Like his work, his protection over us never faltered. Always only a phone call away, his word was worth more than anything.

Now we lay him to rest, the man who was something to everyone: the man on the roof, the tough guy on a bike, the superhero after school, the father with the advice, the friend with the jokes, the grandfather with the best gifts, and the life partner with the love, heart, and memories to be forever cherished.

“If I have it it’s yours. If I don’t, I’ll work for it!”
