Leroy "Pa" Sanchez

Leroy "Pa" Sanchez, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 16, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Leroy is joining his father Eliseo, mother Rose, as well as his two brothers Daniel and Nestor in Heaven.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ernestine; two daughters: Lisa, Leanne; two grandchildren: Dylan and Alexandria.

Leroy was born August 12, 1944, in California where he grew up on the beach before his family moved to New Mexico when he was a teenager--across the street from his future wife. He grew into a good man and was the friendliest person in any room. Leroy was always there for friends and strangers alike, willing to help however he could. Following in his father’s footsteps, he took up carpentry and found a passion for woodworking. Leroy was able to provide for his family while never missing an opportunity to spend time with his girls. He loved to build with his hands and was able to make incredible projects.

Leroy had a love for fishing and would take his daughters, and then grandchildren, whenever he could. The relaxing days were some of his fondest memories. Leroy also enjoyed bonding with his daughters every Sunday over football; going to games were some of his favorite times.

He was one of the best people you could hope to know, slow to anger and quick with a joke. Leroy was the kindest, most cheerful person, he was always able to bring a sense of joy to his family and everyone’s life that he touched. He will be truly missed.
