Lillian Ruth Roybal entered eternal life on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She passed away peacefully with her children at her side at the age of 97.
She was preceded in death by her husband Milton; parents: Genevieve and Cornelius; daughter Rebecca Ferreri; siblings: Richard Callahan, Regina Romero, Mabel Padilla, Fred Callahan and Lawrence Callahan.
Those Lillian leaves behind to cherish her memory include her children: Gerry and Pete Hess, Ron and Rita Roybal, Roderick and Nancy Roybal, Rodney and Martha Roybal, Ruth and Anthony Gutierrez, Leonard and Candyce Roybal, Catherine and Brian McCabe, Greg and Loretta Roybal, and Bonnie and Gerald Lovato. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother with 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lillian will also be deeply missed by her dog, Holly, who was her constant companion for 10 years up until her last day. During Lillian’s failing health, Tilly Sedillo Roybal gave her time and love which brought Lillian a great deal of comfort. Since she was unable to attend mass and receive Holy Communion, Steve Garcia so kindly brought her the Eucharist on Sundays.
Lillian was born on Flag Day in 1924 to the late Genevieve Romero and Cornelius Callahan. She was a graduate of Albuquerque High School. She married Milton Roybal on April 3,1946. She worked alongside Milton in their electrical company, Roybal Electric, all the while raising ten children. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, inspiring others with her unwavering faith. She found time to volunteer at St. Therese of the Little Flower in the business office and as a lectern for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was the most generous and selfless person, always putting others before herself.
Lillian’s Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Shrine of the Little Flower St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church located at 3424 4th St NW, 87107. Mass will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. also at Shrine of the Little Flower St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery where Lillian will rest in peace with her late husband, Milton.
