Louie James Aragon

April 18, 1943 — October 16, 2024

Louie James Aragon, a cherished family man, respected business owner, and honored U.S. Army veteran, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on April 18, 1943, in Albuquerque, where he built his home and raised his family. Louie’s life was a testament to hard work, generosity, and dedication to his loved ones.

Louie was preceded in death by his late wife Christine Aragon, Mother Mary Alice Aragon, Father Louie Elsmen Aragon.

He is survived by his daughter Christina Casaus (spouse Gilbert Casaus), Son Elsmen Aragon, Daughter Antoinette Fregoso, Son Anthony Sanchez, former wife Sandra Aragon, grandchildren Giovanni, Judah, Dante, Elijah, Richelle, Tristan, Alaina, Angel & Sister Margaret Sanchez, Brothers Thomas Anthony Aragon & Stephen Aragon.

Louie was a high school graduate who quickly demonstrated his knack for welding & auto mechanics. His skills led him to be a successful business owner of Louie’s Transmission and auto repair in downtown Albuquerque. This venture not only showcased his mechanical expertise and service to others but also his commitment to providing for his family.

His time in the U.S. Army showed him the discipline and service that he carried throughout his life and fueled his perseverance in all his life ventures These experiences further molded him into the man who would always lend a helping hand to others; whether family, friends, or strangers.

Louie was the dedicated husband of his late wife, Christine, and together, they raised a family of four children: Christina, Elsmen, Antoinette, and Anthony. He was a beacon of strength and love for his nine grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and resilience.

Beyond his professional and family life, Louie had a variety of interests that brought him happiness and relaxation. He enjoyed hunting & fishing, but found his true solace in the sounds that filled his shop. His travels took him to places like Laughlin, Las Vegas, Florida & Canada, where he created lasting memories.

The words that best describe Louie are loving, generous, handy & a “jack of all trades & master of none”. He was the kind of person who could fix anything and never shied away from a challenge. His generosity was boundless, often going above and beyond to help others in any way he could. His love for his family and friends was evident in every action, every sacrifice, every smile and every joke he cracked.

Louie’s hands, which were stained, bruised and cut with the evidence of hard work, were also the ones that held his children and grandchildren with the gentlest touch. Through his example, he taught them the value of dedication, the importance of laughter, and the power of an open heart.

Though his absence leaves a void the impact of his love and the memories he created will continue to resonate with all whose lives he touched. Louie’s story is not just one of a life well-lived but of a legacy that will endure through the generations.
