Louis "Louie" Charles Nogales Sr., 78, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 27, 2016. He was born April 18, 1938 to Rosalio and Elaisa (Valdez) Nogales in Alamogordo, New Mexico. On August 13, 1960 Louie married Gloria Jean Mora.
Louie leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Gloria, his two sons Joey and Fred Nogales, daughter Teri Nogales-Liang, and nine grandchildren; Joseph, Felicia, Johnny, Anthony, and Angelo Nogales, Chantel Serna, Angelique Sanchez, Nicholas and Lauren Liang, and two great grandchildren JJ and Mia Serna, two sisters Mary Helen Flores and Rose Ann Valenzuela as well as many cherished nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his son Louis Nogales Jr. and his brothers John and Joe Nogales.
Louie was a beloved husband, father, and one of the world's greatest Grandfathers! He loved deer hunting, fishing, coaching his son's baseball teams and spending time with his family. In later years he could always be found with his grandchildren at their various baseball, basketball and football events. He NEVER missed a game. You could always count on "Grandpa" to be in the stands with snacks cheering for you.
Always dedicated and hard working Louie spent 54 A½ years with Sandia National Laboratory. He had many friends that he considered family and will be sorely missed by his "Amigos".
Besides being an amazing man, Louie had a wonderful sense of humor. He always had a story and joke to share with everyone. Words cannot express how much he will be missed and how blessed his family was to have had him.
Louis' Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary at Salazar Mortuary (400 3rd St. SW) at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
Mass of Christian Burail will be celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Church at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.
Pallbearers include Joseph, Johnny, Anthony and Angelo Nogales, Nicholas Liang and Luke Nogales.
Honorary Pallbearers include Francisco Nogales, Ralph Mora, Cayetano Valenzuela, James Mora, John Paul Mora, Michael Mora, Daniel Nogales and Jason Mora.
