He is survived by his children: Joanne Quintana (Robert), Eric Padilla (Janet), and Andrew Padilla (Cyndee). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Joshua Padilla, Sara Quintana, Gregory Padilla, Elena Kennedy, and great-granddaughter Chloe Padilla.
Born on March 24, 1934, in Puerto del Luna, New Mexico to Francisco and Maria Angelita Padilla. Louis lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love.
A retired Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force, Louis served his country with distinction, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross for his bravery and exemplary service during the Vietnam War. After 20 years of dedicated military service, he continued to serve his community through his work with the City of Albuquerque for another two decades.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Louis had a passion for genealogy, often delving into his family’s history and sharing his findings with loved ones. He created over 90 family history books on New Mexico families, some of which can be found at the Santa Rosa Library, where he donated many of them. He also dedicated his time to volunteering at the Main Public Library in Albuquerque, where he helped others and continued his research into the history of New Mexico families.
Louis' Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at Shrine of the Little Flower St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church located at 3424 Fourth St NW, 87107. Mass will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. also at Shrine of the Little Flower St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church. A reception will be held following the mass in the Parish Hall.
In honor of Louis’s love for knowledge and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Main Public Library of Albuquerque or an Alzheimer’s research charity of your choice.
