Lucy D. Leyba

On Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 Ms. Lucy D. Leyba went to dance with the angels, as she was called upon to go to Heaven. Lucy was 99 years, just two months shy of 100. Lucy Duran-Leyba was born November 10th, 1917. She meant so much to so many, and was such an amazing woman, with a heart of gold. She had unconditional love and her smile was contagious. She touched the lives of all who knew her. She was the oldest of eleven brothers and sisters. Lucy married Max Leyba, and they had two daughters together. She helped raise her brothers and sisters, as well as her children and grandchildren.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Andres Duran and Elsie Sprunk- Duran. Her loving husband, Max Leyba. Her daughter, Evangeline Leyba. Her brothers and sisters, Richard Duran, Jennie Castillo, Dolores "Dolly" Sanchez, Evangeline "Vangie" Hernandez, Carrie Luna, Ruth Carillo. As well as other loving family members.

She is survived by her daughter Maxine Lipira and her husband, Tony Lipira. Her brothers, Joe Ray Duran, Carl Duran, and Rudy Duran and sister, Marie Romero. Her grandsons, Maximilliano Martinez, and Alexander "Alex" Leyba. As well as granddaughter, Rachel Lopez, and husband Matt Lopez, great grandchildren, Chloe Lopez and Lincoln Lopez. As well as other loving family members.

Lucy's Life Celebration will begin with a visitation on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017 at 5:00 pm at Salazar Mortuary, followed by a rosary at 6:30 pm. A Mass will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 10:00 am at Saint Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, located at 300 Mildred Ave. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband, at 12:45 pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
