It is with a peaceful heart that we celebrate the life of the matriarch of our family, Lydia Donaciana Gonzalez Ordonez Ulibarri who passed away peacefully, May 4th 2016.
Born September 6th, 1929 in Pecos, NM to Tranquilino and Gertudes (Roybal) Gonzalez. Lydia graduated with a Master's in education from Highlands University and became a beloved educator, touching the heart of many with her guidance and commitment to her family and students. Starting her lifelong career as a teacher in Pecos and Santa Rosa; working her way into administration as she moved to Highlands University, The State Department of Education for NM and then UNM. She then spent 4 years working with the US Aids team in Paraguay, Bolivia and Guatemala. She retired in 1986 to her home in Pecos, where she and her husband Horacio worked as camp hosts for 10 years with the US Forest Service. In 2007 she moved closer to her children and spent the remainder of her golden years at La Vida Llena, Albq NM. Lydia was an inspiration to all. She loved her family and her friends, and worked tirelessly to guide and support them all.
She is survived by her beloved children son, DuWayne Ordonez and wife JerriAnn, daughter, Gizelle Ordonez Vanover and husband Mike. In addition to her 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and great, great granddaughter Mia. She was preceded in death by her parents Tranquilino & Trudy Gonzalez, 1st husband Fred Ordonez, 2nd husband Horacio Ulibarri, sons James Gabriel (JG) and Fred Ordonez, grandson James Ordonez and great-grandson Baby Devin.
Lydia's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Salazar Mortuary followed by a Service at 11:00 a.m.
