Manuel A Chavez, 86 passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 4, 2018.

Manuel was born on November 7, 1932 to the late Mario C Chavez and Mencia Apodaca. He was also predeceased by his sister Barbara.

Manuel is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jennie. He is also survived by his children: son Ron and wife Christina of Rio Rancho, NM, daughter Ana Cordova and husband Cal of Rio Rancho, NM, daughter Suzanne Moya and husband Charlie of Albuquerque, NM, and son Marty of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mario Chavez and wife Felicia, Jacob Chavez, Lucy Harris and husband Travis, Jennifer Cordova, Marcus Cordova and wife Anahi, Daniel Cordova, Lori Reiss and husband Isaiah, Alicia Cordova and husband Jesse, Manuel Chavez, and Odelia Chavez. Great grandchildren, Luke Chavez, Josiah Moya, and Jayden Cordova. Survived also by his sister Nicki Garcia and husband Edward of Spanaway, WA., And his best friend whom he called his brother, Romolo Turrietta.

Manuel retired from Sandia National labs after 30 years of service. He was able to enjoy 35 years of retirement. He loved playing golf, watching his TV westerns, spending time with his family, and eating his green chile stew.

He is truly missed...

A rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 27th at Church of the Ascension at 2150 Raymac Road SW.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church at 10:00 am on Friday, December 28th. Inurnment will follow the mas at Pajarito Cemetery. Urn bearers will be Manuel's children.
