Manuel I. Contreras

Manuel Contreras, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home on September 15, 2016. Marleen, his wife of 61 years, Joseph and Diana Contreras his son and daughter-in- law, and Matthew and Rachel his grandson and granddaughter were by his side.

Manuel was a life-long resident of Albuquerque as well as a devoted member of San Felipe de Neri Parish. Manuel spent most of his time at San Felipe Parish not only as a parishioner, but also working as a sacristan, helping with masses and other services, as well as the San Felipe Fiestas. He was always willing to do anything he could to help the parish or the school no matter whenever or wherever he was needed, and he always did it with joy and enthusiasm in his heart. His passion for sports lead him to become very involved at San Felipe School where he spent many many years as a basketball coach.

The Contreras family would like to thank the Gentiva Hospice staff for the excellent care and support they provided.

Manuel's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. The Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. All services will be held at San Felipe de Neri Parish. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to San Felipe de Neri Catholic School.
