Marcela Amaya

January 16, 1965 — December 29, 2023

Marcela Tobar Amaya, a radiant and loving soul, passed away on December 29, 2023, at the age of 58 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

She is survived by her sons: Lucas Amaya, Juancarlos Amaya;  daughter Natalie Oganesyan. Marcela was a beloved sister to Ursula, Gladis, Gloria, Hilda, Misael, Petronila, Leticia, and Dora Tobar. Countless friends, who were considered family, also mourn the loss of this extraordinary woman.

Born on January 16, 1965, in Guayapa, El Salvador, Marcela leaves behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and boundless love.

Marcela was a devoted caregiver. For her, caregiving wasn't just a job; it was her heart. Going above and beyond, she not only provided physical assistance, but also took the time to understand and integrate herself into the families she served, forging genuine connections that transformed her role from a caregiver to an indispensable member of their lives.

Marcela was not just a mother, sister, aunt, and daughter; she was a pillar of strength and support to all fortunate enough to know her. Her infectious spirit touched everyone around her, and she embraced life with a passion that was contagious. Marcela's love knew no bounds, and her laughter echoed the joy she found in every moment.

Her green thumb was evident in her dedication to tending to her roses and cultivating a bountiful garden of fruits and vegetables. Marcela had a special connection with nature, showcasing her unique talent for catching hummingbirds and lizards. She found deep joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether it was looking out into the mountains, spending quality time with her beloved pups Timmy and Sandy, to enjoying coffee in her front yard and spending serene moments by the river with her feet immersed in the water; the ordinary became extraordinary in her presence.

Marcela's signature dishes, pan de yucca and empanadas, were not only delicious but a symbol of the love she poured into every aspect of her life. The rhythm of her heart was matched by her love for dancing, particularly to the beats of ABBA and Cumbias, uniting her family in lively celebrations marked by music and laughter. Her radiant spirit and generous heart were evident in the way she devoted herself to her family and friends. Her unwavering faith in the Lord fueled her motivation to live life to the fullest, encouraging others to embrace the journey, even in the face of challenges.

Her boys, Lucas and Juancarlos, held the key to her heart, and Marcela's love for them was immeasurable. She faced adversity with a strength that inspired everyone around her. In her presence, there was no room for despair, only laughter and smiles that served as reminders that life is meant to be cherished.

Marcela's departure leaves a void in the world, and we bid farewell to a luminous soul whose impact was felt by all. A bright light has gone out of our lives, but her legacy of strength, courage, and ferocious love will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. As we mourn the loss of Marcela Tobar Amaya, we celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared with everyone around her.
