Maria F. Camillo

July 4, 1965 — October 28, 2024

Maria F. Camillo, a beacon of faith and joy, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 59 in Aztec, New Mexico.

Maria was preceded in death by her father Frank T. Camillo.

She is survived by her caring and loving mother Mary A. Camillo; siblings from oldest to young: brother Frankie N. Camillo (Ruth), sisters: Peggy L. Hix, Diane Camillo, brother Andrew H. DiCamillo (Misty), and several nieces and nephews.

Born on July 4, 1965, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Maria's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, service, and the simple pleasures of life.

Maria was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and Graduate of Hope Christian High School Class of 1983. Maria's spirit was as bright and inviting as the New Mexican sun. Her love for shopping, socializing, and dining at her favorite restaurants was only matched by her passion for the outdoors, where she found solace in fishing and camping. A devout follower of Christ, Maria's Sundays were dedicated to worship and fellowship at her local church, a testament to her unwavering faith.

Children were naturally drawn to Maria, affectionately calling her "Auntie," a title she wore with pride and joy. Her ability to connect with the younger generation was a gift that brought laughter and warmth to family gatherings. Maria's home was a hub of love and hospitality, especially during the holidays when she was known for her delightful frosty balls, a Christmas treat that became a cherished tradition.

An avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Maria's enthusiasm for her team was infectious. Her love for Hawaii spoke of her appreciation for beauty and tranquility, a reflection of her own inner peace. Maria's retirement from the Albuquerque Public School system marked a significant milestone in her life, celebrating years of dedication and impact on countless young lives.

Serving the Lord was Maria's ultimate purpose, a mission she pursued with a selfless heart. Her affinity for turtles and wolves mirrored her own nature—protective, nurturing, and fiercely loyal. Maria's presence was a comfort to all who knew her, embodying the essence of being faith-filled, friendly, and selfless.

As we bid farewell to Maria, we celebrate a life lived with intention and grace. Her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her. Maria F.
