Mario F. Sanchez

With deep regrets and saddened hearts, the family of Mario F. Sanchez is announcing the passing of their dearly beloved, on Saturday, October 9, 2021.

Mario was preceded in death by his father Richard Sanchez; grandparents: Nestor Gonzales, Mela Suazo; and his “Nana” Micaela Fernandes.

He is survived by his Mother Antoinette ”Toni” Gama; brothers: Rico Sanchez, Izzy Gama; fiancée Cassie Kirtley, children: Korben, Maddie; nephew Ethan Sanchez; niece Miquela Sanchez, also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that will truly miss him.

Mario will be remembered for his extreme passion for cooking, his undying love for his entire family, his strong work ethic in the bar and restaurant community, his relentless quest for the hottest foods on the planet, his GQ attributes, which include his enormous shoe collection, his constant support for anything local, and most of all, picking on those that he loved most!

Mario was one of the most coveted bartenders in town. His patrons and co-workers knew they always had someone to talk to, whether good or bad. He was always there to support and protect the people he loved no matter what they were going through. Mario had an affinity for Anthony Bourdain, as they were very similar in many ways.  Mario was intrigued and inspired by him as a chef, a traveler, a proponent of quality foods, beers, wines, places, and people.

His favorite things to do included cooking for his friends and family, traveling, fishing, camping, concerts, and most recently golfing. Mario has touched the lives of an abundance of people in his short lifetime, and will continue to be loved forever by all that knew him.

Mario’s Life Celebration will take place on his birthday Monday, November 8 2021, at 4:00 pm at Old Town Farm located at 949 Montoya St. NW. Please note, service will be held outdoors.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to suicide prevention.
