Mary Ann Anderson

Mary Ann Anderson left this earth on Friday, April 23, 2021.

Mary Ann was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 24, 1939.  Her parents were Serafin Crea and Mary Jane (Muckenhirn) Evenson and her adoptive father Donald Evenson.

Mary Ann grew up in Hudson, Wisconsin, where she attended grade school and high school. She graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1957. The former St. Paul Winter Carnival Queen, Mary Ann went on to the University of North Dakota, she graduated with a B.S. in Education in 1961. UND is also where she met and married Orin J. Anderson, her husband of 61 years. The couple had three children: Jon W. O. Anderson (Laurie Buck) of Albuquerque, Mary Lee Anderson (David Wilson) of Albuquerque, and Judith Ann Box (Fred Box deceased) of Boulder, Colorado. There are seven adored and loving grandchildren: Rob Griffin (Eden), Julia and Molly Box, Rachel Buck-Dondero and Emma Buck Anderson, Kevin and Luke Wilson; and one great-granddaughter Nora Ann Griffin.

Orin, Mary Ann, and their three children moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1970, where Mary Ann was employed by Albuquerque Public Schools as an elementary school teacher and later as a principal. She earned her M.A. in Education at the University of New Mexico in 1976. An outstanding educator, Mary Ann was loved and admired by all those who worked with her. She was inducted into the APS Hall of Honor in 2018.

A loving and devoted mother and wife, she was adored by her husband and family. She will be missed beyond what mere words can describe. Love is eternal.
